Marco "Ray" Mazzoli è un pianista, cantante e compositore di musica blues, un genere che interpreta in molteplici stili, sfumature e accezioni (dal blues tradizionale, allo swing e al rhythm & blues), proponendo un vasto repertorio che include sue composizioni originali e rivisitazioni in stile blues di brani noti al grande pubblico. Vive a Piacenza ed è professore di Politica Economica all’Università di Genova.

Tra le numerose collaborazioni di Mazzoli, sono da ricordare innanzi tutto quella con i BIG FAT MAMA, una delle grandi blues band storiche italiane, quella con la stella internazionale del Jazz MATTIA CIGALINI (che ha partecipato, in qualità di special guest a tre dei CD di Mazzoli), con la cantante SABRINA COLOMBO, con il bassista ANDREA LAVELLI (già bassista dei NEW TROLLS), con il chitarrista blues MARCO LIMIDO e la sua FAMILY STYLE BLUES BAND, con il grande bluesman bianco JAMES HARMAN (che Mazzoli ha accompagnato nel suo “Italian Tour” del 2010, insieme alla Family Style Blues Band) con le cantanti RENATA TOSI e MANINA SYOUFI , ma, soprattutto, con il  LOUISIANA BLUES TRIO, un gruppo nato presso il Louisiana Jazz Club di Genova, ma che ha già all’attivo numerosi concerti e apparizioni televisive in Liguria e che è composto, oltre che da Mazzoli, da MARCO BATTELLI (contrabbassista che ha all’attivo collaborazioni con alcuni grandi jazzisti di fama internazionale), TASSILO VON BURCKARD(batterista Rhythm & Blues che ha costruito la sua straordinaria carriera con artisti del calibro di Nino Ferrer, Bobby Solo, Santino Rocchetti).

Marco "Ray" Mazzoli ha partecipato a numerosi festival blues e trasmissioni televisive. Con una delle sue precedenti formazioni, il gruppo bolognese “Biasablues”, Mazzoli ha partecipato, alcuni anni fa, alla trasmissione televisiva "Shownet", andata in onda su RaiNews24 e su Rai3.

Come economista, Marco Mazzoli è Professore Associato di Politica Economica all'Università di Genova. Dopo la laurea in Economia e Commercio (conseguita nel 1987 all'Università di Torino con 110 e lode), il PhD in Economics all'Università di Warwick (Gran Bretagna) è stato, dal 2005 all'aprile 2010, Direttore del Centro Studi CESPEM "Mario Arcelli" dell'Università Cattolica. Precedentemente è stato ricercatore di Economia Politica all'Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia (1993-2002). E' stato inoltre Visiting Fellow all'Università di Princeton (USA) nel 1997, all'Università di Oslo (Norvegia) nel 1998 e all'Università di Warwick (Gran Bretagna) nel 2002 e nel 2010-2011. I suoi interessi di ricerca includono la politica economica, l'analisi economica dei mercati mercati finanziari, la macroeconomia, l'economia e la finanza delle imprese cooperative.

Marco "Ray" Mazzoli is a blues musician, a singer and a university professor of economics... He plays and performs as much as he can in his spare time from his activity of professor and scholar... He has taken part into many blues festivals and TV programs. With one of his previous band (the "Biasablues" from Bologna), in 2003 Ray took part into the TV programme "Shownet", broadcasted in the Italian National TV channel "RAI 3" and in the Italian Satellite TV channel "RaiNews24". Among his recent collaborations, we like to mention the one with Mattia Cigalini, young star in the International Jazz scene (who played, as special gues, in three of the CD's by Marco "Ray" Mazzoli, "Happy to Play the Blues", "Live and alive blues" and "All Colours of Blues"), the singers Manina Syoufi and Sabrina Clolmbo, the Big Fat Mama, one of the greatest historical Italian blues bands, the bass player Andrea Lavelli (formerly with the NEW TROLLS, a famous Italian progressive rock band) the guitar player Marco Limido and his Family Style Blues Band, the and his brother, , the singer Renata Tosi, the legendary bluesman James Harman (that Ray joined in his 2010 Italian tour together with the Family Style Blues Band) and, of course, the LOUISIANA BLUES TRIO, a band constituted at the Louisiana Jazz Club in Genoa, that includes, apart from Mazzoli, Marco Battelli (contrabass player who has collaborated with some great international jazz musicians), Tassilo Burckard (R&B drummer with an outstanding career, with the band "Rokketti", in the 1960's and with artists like Nino Ferrer, Bobby Solo, Santino Rocchetti and many others).

As an economist, Marco Mazzoli is associate professor of Economic Policy at the University of Genova. After his first degree in Economics and Commerce (obtained in 1987 at the University of Turin, Italy, with 110 out of 110 cum laude) and his PhD in Economics at the University of Warwick (UK), he has been, from 2005 until April 2010, Director of the research centre CESPEM "Mario Arcelli" of the Catholic University.
